Debut Success for Youngsters in Central League

09 Oct Debut Success for Youngsters in Central League

In the first week of the Central League season, Fusion teams 1-7 were posted throughout London. Established club players played crucial roles in the matches as predicted but it was some of our younger members who shined in their debut performances.

Headed up by Srinivas Suravarapu, Fusion 3, in their first year in division 1, won 6-4 against Greenhouse King’s College. Sri and Josh Bruce picked up 3 wins each in the victory. While Ronaldo Duke struggled against the opposition, losing his singles and the doubles.

Fusion 5, likewise promoted last season, were less fortunate in their 3-7 loss to ISH away. Things never really went their way until George Kokosis found his fire after his loss in the first match of the singles. He went on to win the remainder of his singles and the doubles, while his teammates, Alex Atmore and Jonathan Tsang, floundered.

The spotlight was on Fusion 6 and their three junior’s making their central league debuts in division 6. Frederic Wilke, Felix Jones and Jonayed Ahmed did not fail to disappoint, despite their tender years, stamping their authority on the league with an 8-2 victory against Highbury 12.
